R. Barrett Noone, M.D., FACS, is in the active practice of plastic surgery in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He has served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Bryn Mawr Hospital, and Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery for Main Line Hospitals (Bryn Mawr, Lankenau and Paoli Memorial Hospitals). For the ten-year period 1991-2001 he was Chair of Department of Surgery at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Noone serves as Executive Director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is past president of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the oldest and the most respected plastic surgery organization in the world, and received the 2006 Distinguished Fellow Award from the Association.
Long active in academic plastic surgery, Dr. Noone is Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is the author of over 75 contributions to the scientific literature, including 7 textbook chapters and one textbook, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Breast. He was instrumental in the development and early introduction of breast reconstruction at the time of mastectomy, and is widely published in the field. His innovative technique of suture suspension in face lift surgery recently was published in the plastic surgery literature. His practice centers on the entire field of cosmetic surgery of the face and body.
He is a founding member of the Board of Directors of Physicians for Peace, an international service organization and has participated in surgical missions in developing nations.
Dr. Noone is regularly recognized in such publications as Who's Who in America, Best Doctors in America and in The Philadelphia Magazine, "Top Docs" issues. Dr. Noone and his wife Barbara, reside in Haverford. They are the proud parents of five children.
